Today, vinyl banners became one of the best ways of informing or communicating with audience. Depending on their design, vinyl banners can become highly successful as a source of information, advertisement, event notification, etc. or they can turn into a useless item. Every successful banner is a carefully designed combination of pictures, words, and colors. The effectiveness of the banners depends on many aspects such as text, location, colors, fonts and graphics. Therefore, they should be taken intp the most serious consideration. 

Banners are used for sending a message to the audience; thus, a key point of such advertising is making them useful. The first step in the process of making a vinyl banner should always be working on the message. It must clearly state the goals of the owner and put forward the targeted audience; therefore, the author should ensure that the content of the message is well-managed and understandable. For example, if the goal of advertisement is to inform about the store opening, it should include the exact date of the opening, its location, and a motivational slogan.
    The location of the vinyl banner is also important and thus must be planned thoughtfully. The place for hanging the banner may vary depending on the target audience, for example, it can be placed along the road or put on a building. In the first case, people might pass it relatively quickly; thus, the message on the banner should be short and easy to memorize. The most optimal length is five to eight words as it is the most suitable for quick reading. On the other hand, if the banner’s location allows people to view it for a minute or more, the length of the message could be extended. However, its length should not exceed fifteen words as long texts are harder to understand, which may lead to ignoring the vinyl banner by the audience (‘Effective advertising with vinyl banners’ 2016).
    The color scheme choice also has a significant impact on the success rate of a vinyl banner. The color may help to bring the message into focus or diminish it entirely. Therefore, the color, as a part of the design, may create a lasting impression and assist with understanding as well as memorizing the message. Bright and contrast colors of the background and the text should also be visually well-balanced for the reason mentioned above. The combinations of black and yellow as well as white and blue are considered very apposite in terms of advertising. On the other hand, using contrast on vinyl banners excessively may create a distraction from the message.
Fonts and graphics as well as colors and texts are equally important in the design of vinyl banners. Graphics can enhance the meaning of the message as well as become a visual key part and serve as an undesired distraction. Graphics should not occupy big space on the banner in order to ensure both quality and quantity. At the same time, graphics must always be of high quality as the image resolution influences the general impression of the audience. The proper type and the number of used fonts assist in good understanding of the message on the vinyl banner. Using two or three different fonts is a solid technique in highlighting different information such as slogan, contact information, etc.
    In conclusion, it should be pointed that a successful vinyl banner is always a proper combination of visual and contextual techniques. Creation of such banners should not be centered only on one aspect but also include the analysis of the target audience and peculiar properties of its location. The size of the letters and their shape are equally important as the vinyl banner’s background as well as the presence and the size of graphics.
